UPDATE: you've been amazingly generous -- thanks!

The surplus from our collections last year went to help two young people from E.Africa to get to MAGiS'08, the Jesuit-run programme for young adults at World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia. They could not have dreamt of doing this without your help. What they experienced there will make them leaders and agents of change for the future back in their own place. We hope to maintain a relationship with their group.

At First Sunday and Third Sunday the collections have been most generous across 2008. We were able to remit at least two-thirds of these sums to E.Africa. Your remarkable support has meant that we were able to remit £1500.00 to them when this appeal ended, in September. THANKS!

2008/09 CHARITY: our new partner CAFOD's appeal for famine relief in Zimbabwe.

How did the FS Charity begin? At our First and Third Sunday Young Adult masses, there is usually a collection to cover costs of using the Farm St. Church (we're guests there!) and of printing the leaflet, building up a music collection and other costs. But when we realised that people were being more generous that we needed them to be, we decided to devote the surplus to a charity cause. It seemed best to choose a beneficiary that is closely associated with what we do, or that involves some of our regular young adult worshipping community.
